Mission and Purposes
Mission
NIOP represents and advocates the interests of persons, firms, and corporations engaged in the buying, selling, processing, shipping, storage and use of vegetable oil and raw materials through communications, and international outreach and development, and publication of appropriate trading rules for comment.
The purposes of this corporation are as follows:
- To promote the general business welfare of persons, firms and corporations engaged in the business of buying, selling, processing, manufacturing or otherwise interested in vegetable oils, vegetable oil products and vegetable oil raw materials; to suggest and to endeavor to put into effect such measures as may tend to place the vegetable oil industry and its products on a high standard and to reform abuses with respect thereto; to inculcate just and equitable principles of dealing in said industry;
- To collect and disseminate by publication or otherwise information of value to its members and to enlighten the public and all persons dealing with the vegetable oil industry of the economic uses of vegetable oils and their products and the economic conditions affecting their manufacture, distribution and sale;
- To adopt and to revise from time to time, and to promote the use in the vegetable oil industry, of uniform trading rules setting forth the standard terms and conditions under which vegetable oils, vegetable oil products and vegetable oil raw materials are bought, sold and distributed and, where deemed necessary, to establish uniform quality specifications for such merchandise;
- To encourage the adjustment by arbitration of disputes among the members of this organization and other persons, firms or corporations dealing with such members.
